Merida Silex 700 problem with rear wheel.

Hello, I have a problem with my bike and I cant get to the end of it. I have recently bought a bike Merida Silex 700 and one recently I had to remove the rear wheel in order to transport it and now when I tighten the axle the rear wheel isn't moving anymore. From my understanding some sort of nut has fallen when I removed the rear wheel. The bike shop where I bought it from said it cant help me since the part I need is from Fulcrum and they don't have Fulcrum parts. I waited over 3 months for a replacement freewheel for a fulcrum wheel with Cycle Surgery, so being a dealer or not (perhaps) doesn’t make a big difference

Sadly I find it quite easy to believe. My LBS waited 8 weeks for new springs and pawls for the freehub on my Fulcrums. Admittedly only the low end Racing Sport wheels, but it was a shambles. The LBS ordered the parts, were told there were none in the UK and they’d have to come from Italy. The distributor then failed to get them in the next shipment, so yet more waiting.

I ended up buying another (non-Fulcrum) wheel just to get back on the road. The LBS say they avoid the brand (and are not that keen on Mavic either) because the spares are hard to get.

I find it hard to believe that a bike shop wouldn’t be able to order Fulcrum spares from I-ride for their customer.
Unless… of course the bike wasn’t purchased from a local shop but from one of the online discounters.

It might be the spacer to convert the hub to 142 . Based on the drawing from Podc I think you need spacer E. A quick google of the part number brings up several suppliers, for example

That looks like it’s a frame

That looks like it’s a frame part that’s missing, not something supplied with the wheel. A dropout insert that slots into the unpainted part of the frame. Might be worth contacting Merida for advice. If they’re Merida dealers then they should be able to help so I’m puzzled why they can’t

But that model comes with a set of Fulcrum tyres! The shop sells the bike but can’t help if there’s an issue with the wheelset that comes with it. So far for buying local, I guess.

My advice if you’re not technically inclined, which I guess you’re not or you wouldn’t have posted about this issue: find an authorised Fulcrum dealer and pay them a visit. That way you’re sure that the right part gets ordered and properly installed.
