I’ve had a set of these for a year or so now, and find they are quite lumpy, repeated re-fitting and running them with tubes seem to help, but I’ve seen it across 2 sets of wheels and a fit by a shop mechanic rather than my ham-fisted efforts, I have a 3rd one that seems much less lumpy.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Everyone else seems to have problems with them puncturing but I’ve only had one!

Ive not experienced any major problems with them. I find they are excellent for grip wet or dry, you do need to ride a few miles to scrub in. Ive had the odd puncture, but invariably has sealed fine. I tend to use a compressor to pop onto rim

Ive used 5 pairs on various wheelsets over the years 25/28mm

    These tyres are absolute junk

These tyres are absolute junk. 3 of the lads I ride with an I have had them, they have all failed badly, bulging, blistering, they are cheap for a reason.

    Yes, both in terms of

Yes, both in terms of difficulty in getting them to seat, and in developing bulges in the wearing surface of the tyre (twice).  Add to that a general propensity to puncture and spew the sealant everywhere, plus a reluctance to stick to a damp road.  My solution after buying a total of 5 of the things (two bulged, one full of holes and two nominally functioning) was to throw them in the bin and start again.

Lumpy as in not round when

Lumpy as in not round when spin?

I have experienced this on both of a ‘pair’ of Pro Ones, bought same place and same time.

Pro One no. 1 – undersized bead that was near impossible to seat from new.  It would not even go on with a tube and soapy water, I tried 3 different rims and swapped it with the other Pro One, same tyre same problem).  Used a compressor to eventually seat however after not being used for a week it went down enough to pop off the bead and I couldn’t refit cleanly.  Whilst not 100% seated it would sit out of round.  Unless looked really closely at where the bead sat you wouldn’t have spotted it.

Pro One no 2 – sidewall bulged after about 50 miles, turned out to the tiniest sidewall cut that just broke through outser surface and showed up the threads – far less damage than you would expect.

In my experience it suggests the first tyre had a smaller bead, whether a shorter cord or more material on that part of the tyre.  The second was just bad luck I guess.

Have you seen the Schwalbe compatibility chart?  The above was on a tyre that they should be ok on, but I did try tyre no 2 on an incompatible rim and it simply would not go on.
