Bottom bracket won’t fit 1973 Fuji S10-S

    I’m trying to install a new bottom bracket in a 1973 Fuji S10-S frame and the thing just won’t fit.  The BB is a BB-UN26.  It seems the diameter is bigger than what would fit in the hole and the threads don’t even appear to have a prayer of catching.

    Has anyone else encountered this or know of a different standard BB I should be using?

    If the bottom bracket is

    If the bottom bracket is threaded for the Italian standard then the drive side is a right hand thread, in which case use, for example, BB UN55.

    Hi Mike, not a direct answer and I dont want to insult you or your level of knowledge but when you say the thread wont catch, do you know that the drive side bearing is a left hand thread?
