Setting this comp up now, hopefully opening tomorrow. I’m awaiting decent profiles from PCS, the official ones are pants. Some curious things with the start list as well. Two of the folk down for the Swiss Cycling Team are in the Tour of the Alps for their trade teams, I’ll update these guys later today or tomorrow; and Patrick Muller is racing for Vital Concept at Liege, so he’ll be a late edition.

Shame the weather has meant the route’s been shortened. Was sort of banking on TdG trying to go after the KOMs, but this will mean Pellaud will win that one.

I had already dropped DeGendt for today, I wasn’t convinced he would go for the KoM as he would have needed to win all the KoMs except the final one and for Pellaud to not get a point.

I picked Zakarin based on the original route & weather but with the shortened route he has virtually no chance.

    Not great for Kruijswijk either.

I have Betancur but wasn’t convinced enough with him yet on a stage like today’s. My plan was Colbrelli and Betancur to Kruijswijk/Buchmann and Pellaud.  I’m not sure Buchmann will even be the chosen one now…or Kruijswijk….In fact Betancur may be a better pick actually. Do you think Volbrelli could date to even get up this one?…it is easier on the top half.

TDG not in the break….that’s  a relief. Couldn’t decide between TDG for his KOM exploits,  Bennett for a couple of days or go straight to Thomas for the rest of the race….opted for Bennett. Hopefully my hunch that TDG May just be rolling his legs over ahead of the Giro will pay off….could still win the stage though if he puts his mind to it.

    Superman.

IMO the break has a good chance to win tomorrow.

Who is going to chase ?

TDG’s biggest problem is that he is only a few seconds down on GC, so teams might try and stop him getting away.

I know he has a big engine but those multiple breaks must take it out of him between races. Does he need to win another KOM before the Giro?…he could be on Easy st couldn’t he?…or not?

A few years ago TDG used to overdo things and waste energy tring to get in the break and picking up every KoM point on offer but he appears to have learnt how to use his energy more effectively.

    IT’S A DRAW…!!….142 pts for both teams….

In a spectacular turn of events, Campenaerts came last, so 10 whole points for him.

I dropped Roglic after I read JumboVisma were riding for Kruijswijk, although on refelection I think this race is Roglic’s to lose and he will score points in all the stages unilke Kruijswijk.

He could win it by accident…just by virtue of being there. It get’s somewhat forgotten that Thomas actually did almost that in the TDF. If Roglic is ahead of Kruiswijk with two stages to go they’ll quickly forget the plan….maybe.
