Opinions needed please! Pinarello F8 or F10?

    Hi!

     

    I really would like to call on some of your guys experience on helping me pick my next bike!

     

    So Ive got a few questions and would value your opinions!

    Frame F8 or F10? Would I really notice the changes from the latest f10? 

    Group set –  I am set on Campag Super Record. Question is.. Is it worth the additional £££ and buy EPS?

    Wheels! any suggestions? Im thinking 303’s or Fulcrum speed 55c

    Bars and stem – any suggestions welcome.

     

    I appreciate this may seem very open ended, however, I would value you opinions.

    If you have the means, F10 with mechanical SR and Boras. Wouldn’t go near a race on it though!

    Personally I would go for the

    Personally I would go for the F10 because getting the F8 when for a few hundred more there is the F10 would annoy me, but with mechanical Super Record, because I like the feel of the Campag shift.

    And it will be cheaper to replace when you bend the mech in a crash.

    But yes, if I were learning to race, I would buy something like Bowman Palace as I would cry, alot, if I broke a Dogma. 

    Why not try racing on the Wilier, then ‘reward’ yourself with the Dogma when you achieve a goal, for example, make Cat 1?

    If by “competing” you mean
    If by “competing” you mean road/crit racing then just but a 2nd had Caad 10 as it will give 99% of the performance and will take the inevitable dents. Failing that, there is nothing technically “worth it” about high end kit except the smile on your face when you ride it (or admire it at the cafe). If you can afford it for that, go for it!

    Don’t fall for the hype on kit. It’s not like there’s only one bike that wins in the pro peleton.

    Nobody ever won a race due to their groupset and don’t race what you can’t replace. If you’re thinking of road racing you might want to start with a slightly cheaper bike for the first season. If it survives then you can use it as a winter bike in later years.

    What a lovely bike the Wilier

    What a lovely bike the Wilier is.

    You will not notice a difference from one high end bike to another.  Its all down to the fit and your body shape.  They are all a muchness bikes and its all a self indulgent action to try and justify one expensive bike or another.  

    Buy what you like, it wont alter your results if you get the F8 or F10 with what ever gearing

    currently ride Wilier Gran Turismo 2011 – I would like to start competing this year. I have been cycling as a x training from other sports that I compete in and am enjoying it more and more. I consider my fitness pretty good and would like to get into some racing. I have competed at a high level in other sports and would like the “kit/bike” I’m using not to be a “weak link”. Many thanks

    It’s all diminishing returns

    It’s all diminishing returns but if you can afford it without bankrupting yourself then go for it. You’ll always look at the upgraded model and regret not buying. 

    Alternatively buy the better frame and upgrade over time.
