Wet cold weather clothing recommendations.

    Hi All,
    My old clothing that I use for wet and cold weather riding has finally given up and I am a little confused by the vast range of gear out there claiming all sorts. I am looking to the experienced who can give thier own recommendations.
    My ride is 20 miles in to work and then home. I have good kit for just the cold, but the wet is another thing.
    Needs – as water proof as possible, warm (but able to breath), bright/conspiquous/reflective (to be seen by Weston to Bristol car nutters) and reasonable cost. Want a good jacket and trousers that are not too ‘flappy’.
    I know its a lot, but any good recommendations???

    Altura are also good
    Altura are also good especially when washing and get some bright colours to help drivers see (wake up) you.

    I can recommend dhb’s eVent
    I can recommend dhb’s eVent overtrousers, they’re a quality piece of kit although it needs to be cold and wet before I’d even consider overtrousers over just getting wet legs 🙂

    Jacket-wise the Stealth is good, also the Madison Stellar/Tempest. Polaris jackets are worth looking at too, and dhb.

    I have had a look at the Endura kit along with Altura et al and they seem to be the way I am going – just wanted some feedback on use/recommendations.
    I have some really cheap ebay outer layers that are really good in the heavy rain, except they get just as wet inside from condensation. My old kit (now completely u/s) was good, un-branded stuff and was cracking in rain and seemed to stay dry without the condensation, a sort of ‘drysuit’ material. It did get hot though :O
    As I will be using the kit regularly I know I have to invest some ££ and I would stretch to £200 all in, inc bottoms – the search goes on. Popping into Evans tomorrow for a gander.

    I would say Endura Stealth but how often will it be washed? daily?

    Use soapflake and handwash modes if you need to wash your gear often and buy some nixwaz to reproof your rain clothing.

    I use Endura stealth on road rides but commuting I just buy warm and breathable cheaper gear for winter and when a heavy shower hits -pull out the water proof jackets stowed away and leggings.

    These waterproofs can be dead cheap, and you can still use summer gear with baselayers.

    What is your budget btw?
