Gear Ratios For Turbo Trainer

    I want to put a bike on my turbo but the gear ratios don’t match – I have a 11/28 cassette on the turbo but 11/32 on the bike.

    Aside from removing the cassette on the turbo & replacing it with a 32 what’s the easiest way round it?

    I was thinking of taking the chain off & putting a shorter one on specifically for the turbo but wasn’t sure if that would work & if the rear derailleur would need adjusting or be compatible with the smaller cassette.

    You shouldn’t even need to adjust anything at all, not even the barrel adjuster.

    My Whyte Wessex has 11 speed 11-32, I can run it with a different wheelset which has an 11-28 cassette if I want, without a single issue.

    The 11 speed components are much more reliable in my experience and don’t seem to be so susceptible issues when changing cassettes/gears.

    Yeah I have a Wahoo Kickr that I use all the time with Zwift but not considered that.

    So basically instead of physically changing gear on the bike adjust the difficulty setting on Zwift?

    better still, Zwift,
    better still, Zwift, bigringVr, have a difficulty setting. All this does move your gearing, so you can use for example 53/39 with a 11-28 and still be able to cycle up Alp d’ Zwift. Zwift works out the speed and resistance from your power meter. You down have a power meter/Decent smart trainer?
