Can anyone provide any input as to whether, in real world use, there is much difference between the C5, C7 and Stretch shakedry jackets?   (Particularly bearing in mind that the original C5 and C7 now seem to be available discounted to around £200, whereas the newer Stretch still seems to be retailing for the full £280.)

Best rain jacket you can buy right now. That do? 😉

Which one?  C5, C7 or Stretch?

FYI my original shake dry (Spring 2017) began to leak so badly all over it was like wearing an unproofed soft shell.

Washed on a 30 degree cycle a few times, non-aggresive detergent, generally spent more time in jersey pocket than being worn.  It started to fail wthin 6 months but I didn’t return until a few weeks ago.

Compressing it into a pocket does seem to make the surface of the material wrinkle and i wonder if it delaminates the 2 layers causing a failure.

Gore have honoured a replacement (2 year warranty).  Sigma said it’s the only return of a shakedry they’ve had.

    Anyone else’s jacket fail?

Millets have them down to £125 for ladies .

    Mens £154.

    Not sure about the

Not sure about the differences between them but I was so close to buying one last year, then I read about not being able to wear a backpack with them, as they work like a tent with pressure applied to the surface.

While I do ride in the wet without a backpack, I’d say 95% of my wet rides are while commuting and that’s when I’m mostly wearing one.  Couldnt splash laugh that much cash on something I wouldn’t use most of the time.

As is the cost with most cycling kit.

What is the difference between C5 and C7?

One’s more fitted than the other, I was told by Gore. In my review of the women’s Shakedry I wrote “Fit-wise, it’s ‘C5’ – Gore’s code for keen rider but not pro (that’s C7)”.

    Hope that helps.

We also have a review of the Shakedry Stretch imminent…
