Play in thru axle

    Hi all,

My DT Swiss (R32 Spline DB) wheels have developed a bit of play in the rear wheel. The rim is able to rock about 1mm to either side, the movement is probably only 0.25mm either side at the hub.

What could cause this and are there any suggested fixes (I think a trip to the LBS may be in order!).

I’ve made sure the thru axle is correctly done up and that the dropout is tight – the play isnt bad enough to make the disc rotor isn’t rubbing on the pads.

    Cheers.

    2000, front wheel is fine.

I took off the freehub and both end caps, I can’t see any play in the axle, but I can feel very slight movement.

    The cassette and freehub are
The cassette and freehub are solid. I took the wheel out and could move the axle by about 0.5mm.

Next job is to take off the freehub and see if anything wasn’t put back together correctly previously.

I found that in my front

I found that in my front wheel (QR) the other day. Turns out the bearings were shot.

    Check that your cassette

Check that your cassette lockring hasn’t loosened by rocking the cassette side to side. It should have zero play.
