S works tarmac bottom bracket

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice, I have just bought an S works tarmac frameset (2017 etap) and this had a SRAM BB30 in place. I am planning to use an Ultegra r8000 chainset and I understand that this will not be compatible with the SRAM BB. I believe that I could buy an adapter but as the Shimano pressfit BB (looking at the SM-BB72-41B) is reltively inexpensive, would it make more sense to just replace the SRAM BB altogether & would the SM-BB72-41B fit the 2017 tarmac frame? Thanks

I’ve been using the praxis

I’ve been using the praxis version of the c-bear solution you link to, and have been very impressed. 2 years of all year round smooth creak free riding. Am just in the process of switching from a shimano to a sram groupset, and have bought the same again (in GXP) rather than use a PF30, despite BB30 sram cranks being lighter and easily available.

I refuse to have pressfit bottom brackets on my bikes. They’re all threaded. Sod the weight/stiffness/fashion etc, I’d rather have a trouble-free life than listen to creaks. And I don’t believe the manufacturers do it for any reason other than profit.

Ignore all of the above as adaptors, spacers etc will end up creaking.

Invest in a C-Bear bottom bracket. They make BB’s to generally fit anything. The one in my Tarmac allows me to run Rotor cranks on the narrow OSBB without any ancillary bits. Been in there 3 years and it’s never needed maintenance nor has it made a sound.

Same in my Allez e5. Never any issues.

Bloody solid units.

You’re correct, Shimano Hollowtech cranks and SRAM BB’s are not compatible. What puzzles me is you have purchased a high end frame but you’re considering a low end BB? Why? BB bearing quality make a huge difference in spin performance. Besides, the SM-BB72-41B shell width is too wide for the frame. Consider getting something of quality such as Wheels Manufacturing https://wheelsmfg.com/carbon-osbb-tech, or Ceramic Speed (these are smooth as melted butter) http://www.ceramicspeed.com/sport/products/BottomBrackets
