What’s the bit of paper that goes under the insole in Shimano shoes

    I just bought a pair of Shimano road shoes.  In the box are two bits of paper that I’m meant to stick under the insole of each sole in the area that supports the cleats.  Just curious – what are they for?

    They are tape patches to stop
    They are tape patches to stop water coming in through the cleat holes. I use electrical tape instead laid down in like 4 strips. This needs replaced every five thousand KM’s as it waears out, or if I hand wash my shoes.

    I must have been a bit keen when I opened mine as I never noticed this and no longer have the box.

    It’s to stop cold air and

    It’s to stop cold air and rubbish from the road getting into the inside of your shoe.

    They aren’t essential but they really help keep your shoes clean (otherwise the sold fills up with grit) when it’s muddy.
