Cannondale Stem

    Somehow I’ve managed to strip the thread on one side of my stem, probably tightening bolts too tight indecisioncheeky

    Would ideally like the same but seem to having trouble finding an identical replacement from here in UK – it’s a C3, 110mm length. 

    Anyone point me in the right direction?

    I’m gonna keep my eye on eBay for now & if nothing pops up will have a look for an alternative. 

    Pity Cannondale don’t see fit to supply spares.

    I have a Cinelli Vai stem on

    I have a Cinelli Vai stem on both my bikes. Less than £20 and very subtle graphics. My 120mm one was way lighter than the stock Giant 110 mm one as well.

    I believe the Cannondale

    I believe the Cannondale bikes use a Kalloy Uno 7 stem (graphics are customised for Cannondale though). It’s quite lightweight stem, you may be able to remove graphics with acetone (nail varnish remover).

    I bought one a few weeks ago. £19.95 from eBay. Excellent value, I don’t think you can find a better stem for £20. I would advise using using the steel bolts it comes with!

    Not in a rush as it’s for the summer bike & the nights are now drawing in……….

    Seems a bit mental though that you have to go down the eBay route to get any replacements for stuff that is widely distributed by Cannondale. 

    I’ve asked about half a dozen Cannondale dealers including my LBS who stock loads of them with the same response.

    Well, not only but they are one of the lightest stems around. Cannondale’s stock Si products are not to be sniffed at; you have to pay some good money to get higher quality third party components. Good luck!

    Had a good look around today & they do appear to be hard to come by which surprises me really cos they are pretty much standard on a lot of Cannondales from new. 

    I’m only really set on a C3 to keep everything matching but I’m not dead set on one if I can’t track one down. 

    There are a few on eBay but they’re all abroad & will work out quite expensive with shipping & possible customs charges.

    You might be able to get one from a higher-end LBS too. I’m pretty sure Bespoke in London have a few, for instance, but it ain’t gonna be cheap from them.

    Cannondale’s a normal 1 1/8″

    Cannondale’s a normal 1 1/8″ stearer so any stem would do. Personally I’d replace it with a 3T but if you want a Cannondale C3 I suspect you’re going to have to wait for something on eBay or buy it from (if I recall correctly) the German site where I used to get all my C’dale parts.
