    Canyon.

    Canyon.

If they’ve sorted out their customer service woes and delivery delays.

However, FWIW I upgraded my Triban 3 to a carbon bike with SRAM Force group, hated it, and went back to the Triban after 3 months. They only reason I’m not still on the Triban is that my commute is now partly offroad and it doesn’t have the clearance for big tyres and mudguards. Cracking bike period, let alone for the money, consider doing a groupset upgrade on it (I went to 105, although the latest Tiagra would do the job too).

You can always transfer the group-set, wheels, bars, etc. to your new frame when the Canyon snaps….

    Good point Filipe makes.

Good point Filipe makes. Weight is less of an issue as you get stronger, and you just don’t notice it after a while. Lack of stiffness on the other hand just annoying, and will only get more so as you get stronger. I’m a fan of Planet X and I’m not anti-carbon fibre, but cheap carbon frames are cheap for a reason. Go with the Canyon.

7.8kg isn’t hefty – it’s only 1kg more than the bikes the pros ride. How much do you weigh?

I had a canyon ultimate cf

I had a canyon ultimate cf and a viner mitus, which is the same as the planet x rt 90.

I can say that the planet x lacks in stiffness and that @74kg with a 54 frame I can feel the BB flexing. Basically it sucks.

I have also an aluminium canyon ultimate al and it’s much stiffer than the viner. I will not buy viner again.

I’ve just had delivered a Canyon Endurace CF9.

Can’t comment on how it rides as its just been a quick spin up the road.

Spec is ace for the money.Full Ultegra and that springy carbon seatpost.Wheels are lightweight DT dicut.Claimed weight 7kg is a bit optimistic but probably 200/300 gram more.

Finish is spot on.Just one week from order,in stock,to delivery.

    . £1750 all in.

The only negative is that you can’t choose bar width or stem length but that’s easily fixed.

I’m in South Wales (just outside Cardiff) and the Ribble works well for me. Plenty of hills where i live and ride. Shame their shop has closed, you couldve popped in to have a look. Canyon are good, looked at them but heared some horror stories around delivery and customer service that ultimately swayed me to Ribble.

Appreciate there are good and bad sides to every company, so i guess its going with what you feel is the best fit for you in the end.

Me too but if the OP thinks 7.8kg is heavy he will need to seriously upgrade it.

I have an Ultimate CF SL

I have an Ultimate CF SL frame. It’s bloody brilliant. Get the Canyon. Or if you’re not buying one in a sale and have lots of tools, buy a frame and build it yourself and save a few hundred. Plus their customer service has been excellent – answering my relentless web chats right away. Planet X meanwhile have been disappointingly slow on occasions.

    The Canyon is nice.
    The Canyon is nice.
I’d avoid planet X as it just seems like they look at a Taiwanese catalogue and order a bunch of frames with their name put on. Its just not the same level of care and involvement a bigger company like Canyon etc would do.
