TCR Advanced 1 – Rear wheel Seriously Dished?

    Hi there,

    I recently purchased the above bike and have noticed that the rear wheel is seriously close to the frame. Initially, I spoke to the dealer and they said the frame was assymetrical. I went for a second opinion and the store used a wheel dishing gauge and said the wheel was ‘out of dish’

    You were lucky not to get

    You were lucky not to get frame damage with that. Looks like the clearance is getting better on the TCR’s. My 2015 Pro2 has the tyre a lot closer to the frame and would have struggled to get the wheel in that much out of true!

    I took it back to the store today and it was certainly ‘out of dish’, they also tightened the gear cables as well, as they had stretched a little.

    The wheel is now centered.

    If the bike was ‘recently purchased’ why isn’t the dealer/store wheel dishing at no charge as part of their customer service/support?

    The wheel doesn’t even look

    The wheel doesn’t even look straight in the frame, never mind  off-centred.

    The pic makes it look as if it is tending toward the chainset/cranks. Does the wheel spin freely.

    I have a 2016 Defy Adv 2 and although the non drive side chainstay is assymetric (due to the disc brake) the wheel is dead centre – see below (note the manky bike – my bad)

    Assuming the hub is sitting

    Assuming the hub is sitting in the drop-outs correctly and that it’s like that all the way around then yes, definitely. I have a 2015 carbon Defy and yes, the frame is asymmetrical around the drop-outs but the wheel is perfectly centred between the seat stays.
