WARNING: moped-riding bike thieves attacking cyclists in SW London

    From my club’s forum:

    There’s been a spate of attacks on cyclists in Barnes, Putney and near Richmond Park. The little scrotes have been targeting people on bling bikes riding to the park, a guy was pushed off his Venge, they grabbed it and drove off. Seems to be either super early in the morning or later in the evening – just when you’re likely to be heading to the park at this time of year.

    Also they’ve been targeting bikes left at cafes – they turn up, grab the bike, shoulder it and ride off.

    Same policeman also advised calling 999 ANY time you see 2 men/boys on the same moped in this area regardless of their apparent activities.

    There was also an attack in Ham back in April which could be connected. 

     

    Usual advice applies about Strava privacy zones, etc. Take care out there.

    Four blokes at work have had

    Four blokes at work have had their wallets, phones and bikes taken from them in the park and on the canal just off Narrow Street near Canary Wharf in the last week. Avoid for now.

    Some of those scrotes on

    Some of those scrotes on mopeds live near me. Two of them were buzzing around on a moped with no plate the other week and neither had lids on. One I know is also known to the authorities and is just 16. I rang the cops but by the time they came, the scrotes had gone. It’s only a matter of time before that one lad ends up either in a young offenders institution or dead.

    I was watching these scum on

    I was watching these scum on Youtube nicking motorbikes in London. Brazen angle-grinding in full daylight, one vid has one on guard duty with a angle-grinder threatening people who came near and the other working the lock.  

    A lot of the comments were the usual ‘why did nobody do anything?’ but would you take on a bloke with an angle grinder? The sensible action was to let them on the bikes and try and push them off once the grinder is away. 

    I’m sure it’s like that every minute of every day there but it doesn’t make London look great.

    What always amazes me with these thieves is whenever they do crash, they never seem to get hurt and always peg it. You’d like to see some brain damage sometimes.

    It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the same crowd, or a totally different crowd. Identify a popular area, a few hits and move somewhere else.

    Yep. What surprises me is that they’ve only just figured it out.

    There’s also been another spate of thefts in the KT6 area this weekend.

    Thanks for the post….that one of my routes  , never had an issue but after stories of scumbags going after motorcyclist with mopeds I guessed it would only be time they tried an ‘easier’ target ! 

     

    Can’t imagine why they’d target skinny out of breath blokes on things that weigh nothing to carry and cost £5k….
