I’ve seen some mad things in my time on the road, but I don’t think I’ve ever been overtaken in this manner.  Perhaps we can raise this video’s profile and get the police interested?

Just for the record, I completely support the velo user’s road position and right to be there.  I don’t think he’s done anything wrong, not even slightly.

I don’t understand why it has

I don’t understand why it has to be sent to the police – if they saw someone burgling your house would they wait for you to report it to take action?

Clearly a nutter who should be detained at her majesty’s pleasure

And we didn’t see two minutes before the incident so maybe there was provication.

What is it about this site that some posters have to take everything literally.

Every syllable of my comments on this story have dripped with sarcasm.

I will refuse to use emoticons, will never use textspeak and will endeavor not to swear.  These are the rules I had set myself when I decided to start commenting on this site.

Until there is a sarcasm font you will either have to use emoticons to convey this or suffer people misinterpreting what you say.

Fortunately nobody ever misses sarcasm in comments on this site.

My post was was an attempt at satire, and a comment on some police forces’ rules on accepting video evidence.

I would love to be able to cite the bit about not going any further if a video was posted on social media, might have been on here, but it could have been on Bez’s excellent Beyond the curb, or the equally good As easy as riding a bike.  Some forces have made this declaration, it shouldn’t change the way evidence is used, unless there is serious injury involved I cannot see any of these cases going in front of a Jury.

The two minute thing came from http://road.cc/content/news/212515-metropolitan-police-beta-testing-video-upload-site-close-pass-and-other-footage  I don’t know why there is the two minute rule, there can be no justification for this sort of awful driving, but the thread came to the conclusion about provication.

I apologise for my comment going that far over your head, but with your comment on Tour de Celeb “I’d like to bust all over Amy Williams’s face” I had always considered you quite low brow.

    More importantly it is nice

More importantly it is nice to see some one still driving a Sinclair C5, and saving on battery life too.

    A similar thing happened to

A similar thing happened to me a couple of weeks back. Traveling along a quite single track lane of the sort where the only traffic you’ll normally meet is families with children & dogs all over the road, tractors, or kids being  led on donkeys.

The wind was blowing an unremitting hoolie from straight  ahead and coming towards the top of a slight rise I check behind (all clear), slow to about 10mph for a bit of a respite, look behind again (all clear) move to the middle of the road to avoid a pile of horse shit,  blowing a bijou snot rocket as I do so – and: FuckKK Me!!! I’m dead  & it hasn’t registered yet  – Some twunt in a 4X4 pick up (of the type that has blacked out windows) as passed me with millimetres to spare at 30-40 mph, half on the road and half off it.

His speed can’t just have been part of my shocked imaginings as he could only have taken a couple of seconds (at most) to cover the distance I’d just checked back over

Looking behind ‘down’ the straight bit of road from here:

    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.075371,-0.0900763,3a,75y,173.89h,87.7t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4hXLZreCApxRnbUmO6IpTw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

    Just – Why????
