Just bought a cheap bike the other day and noticed that when load is put through the drivetrain the rear wheel slips out of the drive side dropout causing the tyre to rub on the left hand chainstay.
Took it to LBS who told me I just needed to tighten the QR up more, they sorted it and it seemed fine. Another mech looked at it at a free university event and I found after riding off the wheel was coming out again. Stopped to tighten it time and again and it keeps slipping out. At one point I actually tightened it so mucht here was a popping sound on closing the lever…… So I’ve closed it as much as possible and the wheels still slipping out.
Included some photos of the firstly the offending wheel with QR open and closed and then with a spare wheel (rim badly damaged) which I am about to try to see if the problem replicates.
Note gap between dropout and is it the hub? in the picture where QR is open. Do I need a spacer washer in there perhaps?
Note the paint damage on dropout indicating movement of skewer?
