Cycling groups in Cambridge area told to stop hogging roads by police but riders hit back at drivers.

    Yes, unless you want to be knocked off by a passing mirror (or something larger).

    IME a lot of the time when Mr (or Ms) Impatient passes in a place like that the result is that they to tailgate the car in front 5 seconds sooner. Tossers.

    true, but riding two abreast will still prevent unsafe passes, and the line of cycles they have to pass will be twice the length and so harder to pass.

    Been all over this on twitter 🙂 The “hogging” language comes from terrible journalist Raymond Brown, not the police, who (in the quoted bit in the report- which is 100% of what they said) had bascially just passed on the moans of idiots to cycle clubs.

     

    As a broader issue, the meeting the report was prepared for was over a month ago; the report published at least a week before hand. Yet this was the front page story of the local paper in the UK#s most cycle friendly city this morning. The awful “journalist” had gone digging, found this, added his own cycle-hating emotive language to it. The editor has then looked at this and decided that it merits prime position on the news stands.
