Achilles tendonitis problem

Have developed a really achilles tendon after going for a ride on Sat; never had anything like this before. Any advice on treatment and recovery, particularly from previous sufferers, would be most welcome.

do you use clipless pedals?
do you use clipless pedals? if so you might want to try moving the cleat backwards so that there’s less distance between your ankle and the pedal interface. by doing that you lessen the extension force when you’re pushing down, it might help…
