Areo wheel problem

    Hello please can someone help. 3 weeks ago I took delivery of a Specialized Venge Vias, it’s been windy almost every day since and with 63 mm aero wheels it’s like riding a skateboard on an ice rink! I want to be able to swap the wheels when it’s windy but retain the carbon specific brake blocks. Any ideas on a non aero wheel that is still carbon and won’t mess up the brakes.

    Wonder if some of this is down to the tube profiles in your frame? I’ve been out on 62mm wheels this year many times already with no trouble. Of course I wouldn’t go out in a gale /storm but it shouldn’t be *that* bad.

    There’s something to be said for practicing on your equipment in less than ideal conditions, to get used to it come event day or whatever you might be training for.

    sell the 63s and get

    sell the 63s and get something you can actually ride on

     

    I use Reynolds 46aeros, wind is no probs and they’re ok(ish) in the wet

    don’t mate brake pads with your tyres, noit good for either.

    Loads of non-aero or less

    Loads of non-aero or less deep carbon wheels out there.  Reynolds, Fulcrum are ones that I’ve seen in magazines in the last few days….and many others…..Wiggle’s own brand Cosine do some for £600….
