    Iam currently riding a hybrid with schwalbe marathon 38 tyres
    Iam getting a road bike but can’t make my mined up what tyres to get schwalbe durano 25 or durano dd will I notice a a big difference in speed changing for 38 and would I notice a difference in speed if I go from duranos to marathon supreme 25
    I would go for the schwalbe one tyres but I don’t think they will stand the roads iam riding on as they have some loose stones

    As Crikey says. Your frame and forks will determine the size of your tyres. Also keep in mind if you want to have full guards as well. Will you be using the new machine for commuting or just evening and weekends? Personally I would get the Conti Gatorskins at 25. Should be able to run them at 90 or so and not run the risk of punctures. I’m avg weight for my size and run my commuter at 90psi and find it reasonably comfy with decent rolling resistance. There are others on the forum who will go lower or higher and tyre choice is also pretty personal. I’ve worked through several brands and finally stuck with Continental 4000’s for the good bike and gators for the commuter. Hope this helps.

    Going from 38mm to 25mm tyres, there will a significant improvement in speed at a cost of comfort. Big tyres are so comfy, however 25mm are not that harsh. You will notice though, hopefully the speed put a smile on your face.

    Both of you have offered no suggestions, merely criticism of my humorous reply, which would suggest a desire to be outraged which shames you both.

    My honest answer would be along the lines of no, I don’t think the width of your tyres will make much in the way of difference. Tyre width depends largely on your frame and whether or not you can fit tyres into said frame.

    Standard road bike frames are usually run with 23 or 25 or 28 width tyres. There is little difference between them, although the larger tyres can be run at a lower pressure and therefore may feel more comfortable.

    There is no excuse for crap spelling and no punctuation; it’s just lazy, newbie or not.
