Muc-Off Chain Degreaser (for Motorbikes)

    I’ve normally cleaned with Fenwicks foaming degreaser but had no choice after running out and the only choice was a Halfords on a Sunday. I went to the cycle section and just saw ‘Muc-Off’ ‘Chain Degreaser’ so didn’t really inspect the can much.

    I was pretty amazed with how good it is at literally spraying the grease right off the chain so thought I’ve found my new favourite degreaser! After not being able to find it on my go-to cycle websites I picked it out the bin and found its actually for Motorbike chains! I did a few searches expecting to find either websites / forums advising it shouldn’t be used on bicycles or the opposite saying it can be used, but I’ve not been able to find anything….hence my posting here.

    Is this stuff safe to use? My bike hasn’t fallen apart and the paint job hasn’t been affected, so I’m guessing it probably is, but I would have thought if this stuff is useable on bicycles, then why isn’t marketed that way?

    A number of the more powerful degreasers will begin to fade any anodising on your bike as well as stripping grease out of bearings if allowed to contact them. A number of people ended up with faded red wheels, ie pink… when using such degreasers too liberally.

    I’ve been using the Muc-off
    I’ve been using the Muc-off stuff for cleaning chains for a few years. It’s great.

    Fairly sure I’ve seen it sold in bike shops, and probably also reviewed for bike cleaning in various forums/websites.
