Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow – Thoughts?

    im contemplating getting a Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow saddle as I can get one at a good price through work but was wondering how much thinner the padding is compared to the standard SLR? Also how do the carbon rails perform compared to titanium ones? Never used carbon rails so a little unsure about them.

    If anyone has tried one it would be great to hear some feedback.

    No, there is much less
    No, there is much less padding than an Arione, but then it weighs a lot less. For me, the comfort comes from the way its shape is sculpted, unlike the Arione. I rode Ariones before the SLRs, and much prefer the SLR.

    Rail adjustment is about the same as an Arione, it is certainly not restrictive in that regard.

    Sorry guys one last question. What saddle would you compare the padding to? Is it similar an Arione? Also is there plenty of rail adjustment?

    I moved to this saddle on all
    I moved to this saddle on all my road bikes, not the Flow, but the Kit Carbonio SLR. I love the shape, and for me it fits very well, so the minimal padding feels very comfortable.

    I think it is a saddle that relies on the shape for comfort more than most, so maybe one that is either right or wrong for you, certainly one of my friends hated them, but he had a fat arse…

    It fits all the seat-posts I have tried it with. 5Nm is fine with regard to tightening torque; it has moved from bike to bike with no damage to the rails.

    I love mine.

    Took a handful of rides to break it in, but there’s just the right amount of flex and padding. I do use Castelli shorts though which have a very comfortable pad.

    I used a bit of fibre grip on the rails and torque to 4nm. It’s gone through a lot of miles and a lot of washes and it hasn’t budged a mm.

    Hi, no issues fitting. I think the old version of the saddle had oval rails, where the more recent version (i got mine in 2014) have round rails.

    Longest I have ridden is 110 miles on poor roads. At no point do I think this saddle is ‘sore’. I ride about 10hrs a week.

    I can’t remember what torque I used, the saddle came with instructions and I just followed them. I have a feeling about 5Nm but check the manual.

    Thanks for the feedback edd23. Is the saddle still comfortable on long rides? Just out of interest did you have any issues fitting the saddle? I’ve read about seatpost compatibility issues? What torque did you set it to?

    I switched to this saddle
    I switched to this saddle about a year ago now and now have it on all of my bikes. I find it incredibly comfortable but that is no guarantee you will. Of all the tweeks I’ve made to my bikes over the years I think ‘carbon rails’ have had one of the biggest impacts. The saddle rails just seems to soak up the bumps and allows you to keep putting the power down even on very bumpy surfaces. For what it is worth I weigh 62kg and am 5’8″, so a relative lightweight…
