My old Claud Butler needs a new bottom bracket and it’s a job I’d do myself but I couldn’t shift the old one at all even though I’ve got all the required stuff (even tried heat as though that ever works).

Took it in and told them it was going to need some work to get the damned thing out.

They skipped the simple methods, clamped it to a bench and got it out for just a fiver’s worth of labour.

The new one is going in with copper slip and getting annually loosened like the other bikes. That’s the factory installed one that came out having survived 18 years!
