Bike Rack for Hire Car – Mont Ventoux

Me and my cycling buddies are making the pilgrimage to Ventoux next month and are hiring a car to drive from London. We are unsure about how to get the bikes mounted on the car as we don’t know which car we will be getting, whether or not it will have roof rails, bars etc. another issue is that if we do get a bike rack, it will obsure the lights and numberplate, we can’t get an additional number plate and lights before the trip either!

If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated, whether there are universal roof racks which will fit on any car, or whether anyone can reccomend a bike rack which will keep the bikes nice and high. The car is likely to be a people carrier like a Citroen Grand Picasso or a Peugeot 7 seater.
