Swapping from Shimano to sram

I’m currently running shimano 105 and am seriously concidering changing to sram apex. I really fancy a change and I’ll save over 200g in weight. Money isn’t really an issue as the spare parts will be sold to cover the costs.
Who is using what out there? And who’s tried this before and what we’re your thoughts?

    Cheers

Ok I’ve got a rival/force 10 speed set up on the cross. Full Force 22 on the race bike. Seriously get the 11 speed rival. The front shifting is significantly better. I really do recommend this.

    Enjoy it either way!!

Recently went to Rival 22 and am a sram convert, for all the reasons mentioned above, it just feels better. OK ‘double tap’ won’t be everyones cup of tea, but I have had no issues adapting and I can be a stubborn bugger.

I will be going with the 10 speed tbh and I’ve just been offered a rival gearset at a great price.

Sram is much better than Shimano, if you can afford Rival then the difference is huge. Having used both and swapped both bikes out to Sram I would use down tube shifters rather than go back to Shimano. The shift is more positive, the hoods fit my hands better and there is no floating feeling from the brake lever. I use Shimano brake calipers with my Sram shifters because I prefer the feel. If you are going 10 speed then I suggest you use a Microshift Centos front mech (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-microSHIFT-CENTOS-Front-Derailleur-FD-R74FE-2×10-Speed-/130971559081?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e7e8364a9) which will let you use all 20 combinations without chain rub without having to use the trim function.
As far as Apex goes, get some good gear cables and it is Ok but as Mrmiik says, put the extra towards Rival.

Apex is abit meh. Light but
Apex is abit meh. Light but Defo a downgrade. Seriously – bring the cash for rival. Enjoy the awesome trim less front mech and 11 speed.
