I’ve got a CR1 SL and love it. Possibly older technology than the latest bikes granted, but good all the same. Had a Specialized Roubaix before the Scott (older 2010 era though) but found that a little too soft and relaxed, although I think the new Roubaix frames are much better than what I had. I find the Scott is certainly “racier” and more direct than my old Roubaix, but still takes the sting out of bad road surfaces so I much prefer the riding experience. It’s also really light.

I think the only real downside of the cR1 is the relatively tight rear tyre clearance by current standards. You may be limited to 25mm max depending on wheels.

The CR1 is a good bike, but
The CR1 is a good bike, but dated. If you are looking for a modern endurance/sportive bike, then I would recommend you give the Scott Solace 30 a look. I bought an ex-demo Scott Solace 20 at the beginning of the year and I absolutely love it. I just took it to Belgium for the Tour of Flanders Sportive and it coped very well indeed with the cobbles. It’s quick too.

The Roubaix is a good bike, but I know of several people who have experienced that Roubaix ‘speed wobble’

If you are willing to stretch your budget a little and the sizes suit you, you could get an ex-demo Solace 20 from Start Cycles for GBP1679. That gives you Ultegra 6800.
