Hi, I'm looking for a cheapish commuter/ mess-about mtb and I came across this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/vitus-bikes-dee-290-city-bike-2015/rp-prod120678 . I know the brakes are shocking so I'd probably get a set of Avid BB5's and sell the Promax ones. But does anybody have any recommendations on other bikes for that price range, or comments on the bike itself? I know you can obviously get gears for that price but it's flat where I live and I appreciate the simpleness of a singlespeed/lack of maintenance and in any case, I've got my Canyon for the hills...
