    There are arguments for and
    There are arguments for and against both… For me it runs as follows:

    Weight – superstar
    Hub/bearings – superstar as I prefer cheap cartridge bearings to cheap cup and cone for longevity of the hub itself
    Spoke count/lacing – draw
    Spoke type – Merlin. Not a huge fan of straightpull spokes as it can be harder to get replacements
    Skewers – Merlin – the superstar wheels aren’t supplied with skewers, so that makes them more expensive and therefore…
    Cost – Merlin

    For me, at 85kg and with a preference to do my own maintenance the Merlin offering just shades it. For you, at 70kg, the weight vs cost balance is probably the biggest consideration… And if you’re happy paying someone to fix them rather than DIYing it the Superstars are probably greater value.
