How to convert PF BB30 to BB86

    Hello Everyone,

    I currently ride Cannondale Supersix Evo with SRAM Red22 group set which uses a BB30 BB standard. I’m intending to get a BMC Time Machine TMR01 and swipe the parts from Cannondale to BMC. But I’m stuck as BMC uses a BB86 standard. So I need your suggestion as to how to solve this issue.

    1. Is there any adaptor for BB30 to BB86 conversion? If so can you provide a name or even better a web site link?
    2. Can I set up Dura Ace crankset in BMC and fit rest of the SRAM components with it, eliminating the need of using an adaptor? Is it possible to use Dura Ace crankset with SRAM Red group set?

    Please help me out to suggest the best option out of the two. Thanks in advance.

    With regards to point one, yes it is possible to fit a bb30 crank in a bb86 frame, Rotor have both a ceramic and steel variant that will allow a 30mm spindle to be installed in a BB86 Frame (So long as your BB30 crankset axle is long enough)

    I use the ceramic version of this bottom bracket to run a rotor 3d+ (30mm axle) in a giant TCR Advanced SL.

    Ref Q1 – BB30 cranks have a
    Ref Q1 – BB30 cranks have a 30mm diameter spindle. The BB86 Bottom bracket takes a 24mm diameter spindle so BB30 cranks will not fit a BB86 bottom bracket but the opposite will work with an adapter (BB86 cranks in to BB30 BB).

    Q2 – Yes, that is an option. An alternative is to acquire a Sram Red22 GXP crankset which should work although there seems to be some query in some forums as to whether an adapter is needed or not.
