Axis 1.0 Brake Pads and Cables

I have AXIS 1.0 Brakes which have worn out pads on them. I have been looking at Kool Stop Salmon pads which seem pretty good. Am I right in saying these will work with the AXIS brake cartridges? Also I am wanting to change my cables. Are standard Shimano cables good enough? While I'm on the subject of all this, I will need to replace my bar tape when I do the cables. I have a specialized with a black frame and I think that red tape would look nice, will any cheapish tape do?

Unless the cables are really old or worn I would just regrease/oil them to keep em smooth.
Also black bar tape, red will get grimy and look cheap very quickly…also rule 8 😉
