Online Retailers Rose and Canyon Bike Sizing

Has anyone compared these bikes with brands like Specialized, Felt etc. For example my bike, a trek, in M (56) has a top tube length of 565. The same is true of a specialized tarmac for example in size 56. However Rose bikes have a top tube of around 540 -543 in size 55, and canyon on their 9.0 CF SL have a top tube of 549 (the endurance is 547). This appears to mean that they are very wide of the norm for a bike in my size. I have checked and in all cases these are the sizes my measurements would recommend for each of these manufacturers. I cant quote the stack in all cases, and Rose dont mention it in any case. But the stack on a Canyon is also lower than that on a Tarmac. The cayon has a stack of 560 (endurance 571), a felt z3 has one of 580, the tarmac in 56 has 564.

This means that a Canyon or Rose would feel short in the top tube and, in the case of Canyon, low at the front, compared to virtually any bike i could mention in your LBS.

On the face of it the sizing seems extremely offputting despite the very attractive spec. Can anyone explain why the sizing looks so odd?

    Interested to see this,
Interested to see this, especially considering my next N+1 may well be their new carbon Disc Di2 offering at under £2.5K:

My Canyon road bikes have all
My Canyon road bikes have all fitted just fine but I bought them by reference to effective top tube length of my (bike fitted) previous bike then double checked it against the Canyon fit system. I am right on the cusp between medium and large (a 1cm variation in a couple of measurements pushes me between the two), so I went for the large to give me a slightly longer head tube.

When I bought a Canyon MTB not so long ago I ended up with a medium, which I was worried was quite a bit shorter than what I was used to riding but (with a 1cm longer stem than I was riding previously and the seat slammed back on the rails) it actually rides about the same maybe a bit better.

    I’ve recently bought a Rose
I’ve recently bought a Rose Pro SL 53cm as a replacement for a Specialised Allez Elite 54m. 532cm and 548cm respectively. I find the Rose fits a lot better and I have no grumbling pain in my right knee. I don’t know if the two things are in any way connected, of course. I like the Rose and the spec is excellent for the price.

I got caught out by Canyon
I got caught out by Canyon because I didn’t check the dimensions. I used Canyon’s online tool for sizing up my Aeroad which recommend a size M (56) based on my measurements. I was upgrading from size 58 Cannondale and was a little apprehensive until it arrived and fit perfectly! I was so chuffed with the fit and how much I liked it over my larger Cannondale that I ordered a size M Ultimate AL SLX frame earlier this year and only discovered after it arrived that the size M Ultimate has a much shorter top tube – in fact the hole thing is smaller – the size L is much closer to me Aeroad and is still smaller than the Cannondale.

    maybe it is different in
maybe it is different in Germany. Some reviews have suggested they are a bit short across the top and suggest a 140mm stem, but i reckon that would feel very odd.

I had real trouble with their size apps. I even phoned up Rose and the guy at the other end could not believe my measurements were possible for a human being.
