Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia 2015 Route

This route is looking interesting to me and after the last 2x L’Etapes in France, I want a change. Taking a better look at the map and a rather simple google search indicates that to get from the start to finish, or indeed any place I could stay at nearby, is a logistical nightmare if you plan to go alone and haven’t got a driving license. There’s no info about any transport or accommodation on the site, so I would like to ask if there is anybody here who can point me in the right direction (if there is one).
How is it possible to get from the finish to start area or vice versa?
I’m only asking about the transport/accomodation side in the first place. But also tempted to find out if there are other events that are ‘easier’ on the logistical side, preferably ridden in Italy by any of the readers here.
