Ah, how can anyone ignore the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah with its fantastic scenery and all those WorldTour teams and all those climbs? Not me! 😀 So, here we go. Another Forum competition in the Copa Orli series! 🙂 For those who can’t live with only one race going on! 🙂

The Tour of Utah runs for 7 days. Stages 4 and 6 are the mountain stages and those are the only ones that will be scored in this competition. Yes, you read right, only Stages 4 and 6 will be scored in this competition.

The Tour starts tomorrow Monday Aug 4 and runs through Sunday Aug 10, 2014.

    Here’s the race profiles link:

    http://www.tourofutah.com/stages/stage-4/
    http://www.tourofutah.com/stages/stage-6/

Here’s the start list on PCS:

    http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/The_Larry_HMiller_Tour_of_Utah_2014-Startlist

Here’s the official Tour of Utah Twitter feed:

    The rules:

    1. Pick 9 riders from the list below using the special rule.

Yes. There is a special rule, of course. How can there not be one? 😀 And here it is. You must have 4 riders valued at 3.0 on your team. The other riders can be of any value you wish, of course. Keep in mind the stages that are being scored are the mountain stages of the Tour, Stages 4 and 6, only.

    2. Enter your team before the start of Stage 4. Stage 4 starts at 11:10am local time Thursday August 7 (7:10 PM – 19:00 CET).

    3. You will be allowed two transfers for Stage 6. The special rule will still apply to your team for Stage 6.

    4. No person will be allowed to enter more than 1 team. That includes the organizer of the competition, of course. 😀

    Hope you like it. 😀

    Notes:
    1. The budget is irrelevant in this competition, of course. You will still be expected to have 4 3.0 riders on your team. Any team that does not comply will, of course, be given the opportunity to change the team before the start of the competition. If any team does not seem particularly built for a mountain stage, that team will also be given the opportunity to change the team before the start of the competition.

    2. The GC, PC and KOM jerseys will be honored and so will the Lanterne Rouge. If the Young Rider jersey is awarded, that classification will be honored, too. If there are any Sprint or KOM points along the way, these points will be awarded. If there are no Sprint points along the way those riders in the break of the day will receive 5 points for being in the break. More or less, that will apply to groups of riders that make a break stick and lasts either until the finish line or until the peloton catches the group that has been away for the majority of the race. If there’s any confusion, the race organizer will determine what constitutes the ‘break of the day’ 😀

    3. If you want to use a rider not listed, let me know. In most cases if they are not listed they will probably be a 3.0 credit rider.

You know, I should have probably scored stage 7, too… 😕 I didn’t look at the results from last year for that stage and it didn’t dawn on me that it would be the GC guys fighting it out on the last day, too.. 😕 Should have checked! 🙂 I’ll probably add it next year, unless we have it in the game next year(!) 😀

It would have been a feast for those who had both (!) Cadel and Horner, since only Him and I didn’t (!) have Kelderman! 🙂 But you had Horner and not Cadel and TER had Cadel but not Horner in the teams submitted for Stage 4! 🙂 And Him Up North would have had a tidy 14 points nobody else would have had with Putt and Tjallingi in the break… If I would have scored stage 5, only Him Up North would have benefited since it was a sprinter’s stage and he had Tanner Putt.

I should have offered 2 more transfers and scored the last stage (!) 😀 I’ll look more closely next year and in the future! 🙂

Anyways, here are the rider scores for stage 7:

28.9 Cadel Evans BMC Racing Team 48
    23.9 Wilco Kelderman Belkin-Pro Cycling Team 45
    16.9 Chris Horner Lampre-Merida 43
12.5 Thomas Danielson Garmin Sharp 42
    7.2 Winner Anacona Lampre-Merida 40
10.1 Ben Hermans BMC Racing Team 27
    3.0 Carter Jones Optum p/b Kelly Benefit… 27
    8.2 George Bennett Cannondale 18
3.0 Dylan Teuns BMC Racing Team 18
4.9 Yannick Eijssen BMC Racing Team 16
    3.0 Lachlan Norris Drapac Professional Cyc… 13
    3.0 Alex Diniz Funvic – Pindamonhangaba 12
    3.0 Dion Smith Hincapie Sportswear Dev… 10

    3.0 Ilia Koshevoy Lampre-Merida 8
