I’ve got a Cotic Roadrat which I’ve had for nearly 4 years. In that time I’ve broken probably 10-15 spokes in the front wheel. For context the only other broken spoke I remember is one going on a fully loaded tourer in 1998!
I swapped the original wheel out about 18 months ago after getting fed up with replacing spokes. Sure enough within a few months a spoke went on the new one. Now the new one wasn’t brand new- I took it off my retired Galaxy but still, it hadn’t had any broken spokes before. The original one was disc ready (although I use V brakes) and I wondered if the disc dishing was a factor somehow? The replacement is a regular non-disc wheel.
Any reason why this particular bike should go through so many spokes? I have it singlespeed with a 45/16 gear.
