Am looking at buying some high end Carbon road wheels. Zipp, SRAM or Mavic??

Not sure about the graphics on the SRAM Carbon wheels though. So this narrows it down to Mavic or Zipp. Hmmmm

I had Mavic D521 Rims on my mountain bike back in the day and they were bombproof!! I now have mavic shoes, pedals, and speedo for my road bike and am happy with them.

I will spend a decent amount of money as want quality kit

Any suggestions?

Cheers

worth looking at the FFWD
worth looking at the FFWD F4Rs too. we’ve not tested them but we have tried the F2Rs which are super wheels, albeit expensive. we’ve got some F9Rs in too and first impressions of those are good, though it hasn’t really been the weather for deep sections!

The F4Rs are quoted at 1245g/pair and you can have a set for as little as £770 online…

Given your username and
Given your username and consequently the amount of Mavic kit you already have – I’d say your headed towards a set of the Cosmic Carbone Ultimate Tubulars 🙂
Chain Reaction are knocking 10 per cent off both the 2009 and 2010 models at the moment, and they are your favoured 40mm rim depth too.

Wiggle have them at 10 per cent off too, http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Mavic_Cosmic_Carbone_Ultimate_Tub_Road_Wheelset/5360046121/ though I think CRC shades it on price.

Mind you, those Zipp 404s are classics too, and the Dura Ace wheels are very fine bits of kit too

I love my 50mm Dura-Ace tubs
I love my 50mm Dura-Ace tubs – not the lightest, but they roll beautifully. If you can find a shop who will sell you a set off a display bike then you’ll save a good few quid on them too – I got mine for £1100.

don’t forget Hed. And
don’t forget Hed. And Shimano. And FFWD. And Bontrager. and lots of others. there’s plenty of choice in the upper echelons of road wheels. you looking for deeps or lightweights?
