    I’ve just finished watching the first two episodes of this programme and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough and can not wait for next weeks episode.

    Brilliant, just brilliant.

    It appears to only be shown “live” on BBC Northern Ireland but I watched it through BBC on demand service on Virgin and I think you can watch it through the BBC’s website too.

    Fantastic television, very funny with brilliant storytelling and, well, its Tyres from Spaced (kind of, but much calmer).

    Quite surprised you never heard of it-it was very heavily advertised as part of BBC NI’s Giro coverage-a lot of people I know who aren’t the slightest bit interested in cycling heard about it and watched it.

    Apologies for dragging up an old thread but I’ve just read that a second series of this show has been commissioned.

    If it’s only half as good as the first series then it’ll still be about 20 times better than the vast majority of stuff on telly.

    Despite having family in N.
    Despite having family in N. Ireland and visiting regularly I had never even heard of the guy. But he’s a natural for this kind of program and I’ll keep an eye open for the next episode. Thanks Farrell.

    An excellent watch, thanks for posting. If you enjoyed that, you’ll enjoy The Trip to Italy with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan if you haven’t already heard of it. Nothing to do with cycling but a great watch as well.

    Thank you, I would have missed this and missed out on a very good program that I hope will be repeated on the beeb so everybody gets a chance to see it.
    As others have said it normalises cycling and cyclists which can only be a good thing.

    Were they tri-bars? I thought he had just changed his go pro mounts in to the middle of his handlebars. It says a lot that I didn’t focus on details such as that.

    It was so good that he covered many aspects of cycling and the history of cycling and, as you said, just normalising it.

    Smiley himself wasn’t trussed up in lycra but was clearly well kitted out. I doubt the casual watcher would have realised he was even wearing cycling specific gear.

    Brilliant advert for Vulpine by the way.

    I have to agree- it is
    I have to agree- it is refreshing to see a programme presented by someone with a passion and knowledge on the subject rather than the usual “presenter-tries-something-new-and-is-crap-at-it-ha-ha” format. Smiley is great at normalising cycling and the fact he is a successful stand-up comedian doesn’t hurt in widening the appeal of the show. One of the best elements is that he isn’t playing for laughs and doing stupid stuff- plus it is good to see the roads I normally ride on getting a starring role tonight. You do have to question why he went for tribars though for the TT since he was already at an aerodynamic disadvantage with all those cameras on long poles attached to the bike!
