Proper Purist Classics Comp

A few people have commented on how they miss having to pick a proper purist team for the classics now that we've moved over to fully unlimited transfers between each race (which simplifies things a huge amount and hopefully will cause much less confusion than in previous years).

In light of this I'm setting up a 'proper purist' forum comp for the spring classics between the opening Omloop/KBK weekend and Paris-Roubaix (I'll set up a separate one for the Ardennes later).

The Rules – pick nine riders for 150 credits or less based on opening values this weekend.  Usual rules apply so no more than two riders per team (no picking all of OPQS then).

The Points – Normal fantasy points will be scored by any and all active riders in each race included in the road.cc game, that's:

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad – Sat Mar 01 2014
    Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne – Sun Mar 02 2014
    Strade Bianche – Sat Mar 08 2014
    Roma Maxima – Sun Mar 09 2014
    Milan – San Remo – Sun Mar 23 2014
    E3 Harelbeke – Fri Mar 28 2014
    Gent – Wevelgem – Sun Mar 30 2014
Ronde Van Vlaanderen – Sun Apr 06 2014
    Paris – Roubaix – Sun Apr 13 2014

This means that points will directly corralate with the main game.  If your rider doesn't start a race then you get no points.  There are no transfers, no swaps, no substitutions and no injury replacements.  Your nine riders are your nine riders and that's it.

The Prize – Eternal Glory (ie nothing).

Entries required on/before 9am Saturday 1st March 2014.  Please try and keep your entries into one post with any amendments in that post (so no quoting other peoples team please).

EDIT:  I've just remembered that I'm out of the country the day that Paris-Roubaix runs so I'll also need a volunteer to put together the final scores, I'll sort everything out up to that point so someone will just need to come in and take all the glory.

Likewise, if someone wants to volunteer to carry the comp over into the Ardennes classics but with new teams picked (but points carried over) then that'd be great too.

Looks pretty good to me – Leukemans was especially tempting although his team are only riding 6 of the 9 races. Having said that – you have ten riders instead of nine so the maths doesn’t add up… đŸ˜‰

Zoidl is a total unknown quantity. If you look at his record for last year it is the best around for a Neo-Pro pretty much. Who knows how he is going to be used this year.

    He looks very impressive.

The problem with Zoidl is that he scored his points on high mountain and time trial stages which don’t make up the classic races whereas thanks to his TT win Hepburn scored points on the flat and the classic are mainly set up as flat stages.

Zoidl’s an interesting one for two reasons:

    1. I don’t understand why he’s still valued at only 3.0 after the Tour Med
    2. Will he actually get a ride? Seems more of a man for the week-long tours or DS-ing at the Giro/Vuelta.

Still, I’ve punted on Van Baarle and Mohoric as my 3.0s, so what do I know?

Your right about the value, i thought he would have been higher, my 3.0 pick is Hepburn who is now 7.7 credits, he must be quite good at the classics style races.
