    Hi Folks,

    I’m involved with a charity and we’re organising a sportive for the end of the (cycling) year. We had a fairly successful first year, but a lot of feedback was that we should allow over 12’s on the route. Not sure about the legalities around this and could do with some advice

    An increasing number of events add a shorter ‘family’ ride alongside their events so it shouldn’t be a problem.

    Our club runs a reliability trial each year and we use British Cycling for insurance:

    I see it’s now £50 + £1.20 per rider, that’s gone up a fair bit! Sportive = cash cow 😕

    I don’t know if there is such a thing. This is why most sportives are 18+, some are 16+ but require a parental wavier.

    I don’t know what Sky Rides and family events do.

    I would suggest you contact British Cycling for advise. Rather than a group of informed (well and not so well) people on a forum 😉
