Spacer on road wheels

Hi ive just bought a set of fulcrum 5 wheels.ive got shimano 8speed,do i need to use the spacer included?it says on spacer that its for use on 9/10speed only however it says on description to use the spacer?

I have the same set up – you
I have the same set up – you do need the spacer provided. Slide it on before the cassette and you’re done!
