    A non cycling question really but…..

    I currently subscribe to Pro Cycling magazine.
    They are currently offering a Altura jacket to new subscribers.
    Which is nice.

    Is there anything stopping me cancelling my current Direct Debit and subscription and re subscribing – thus getting a magazine i already wanted anyway and a nice jacket into the bargain?
    It seems a bit naughty i know and im sure that loophole has already been plugged but do you think my cunning plan will work?

    I wouldn’t worry too much
    I wouldn’t worry too much about being ‘that guy’. Pro Cycling is owned by global media company Future plc who, i’m sure, happily use every trick in the publishing book to maximise the income they can generate from their readership. You shouldn’t have any qualms about doing what you can to maximise what you get from them in return.

    In addition, they will doubtless have struck some deal with Altura, who will also be gaining from the publicity that the free kit deal generates – Pro Cycling are not simply paying for new jackets and giving them away to new customers.

    My advice? If you can get away with it…get away with it. I’m sure they are simply working on the basis that most current readers cam’t be bothered with the hassle of un-subscribing then re-subscribing

    dont get me started on a certain well known broadband/ tv/ phone supplier who puts our bill up every year and never gives us nothing in return when new customers get a personal visit from Richard Branson and who plies them with fine food and wine and superfast broadband and trips on his spaceship (probably)

    In support of Comrade PeakPedals and others like him i am taking back what is ours and standing up for us loyal, but neglected, customers!

    I’ve always felt slightly
    I’ve always felt slightly aggrieved that when I first subscribed to one cycling mag that I never got the promised “gift” of a new jersey but didn’t complain about it, I’ve since then paid for at least 5 more years at full whack. It is annoying that their business model is to constantly subsidise new business at the expense of regular/existing customers. If loyalty doesn’t pay then it’s a situation of their own making, if only I could make the time/effort then I’d do the same! The more who do, the more notice they might take!

    im with you on that low speed
    im with you on that low speed wobble. i have had this mag for past 2 years during which time if i had cancelled and resubscribed i would by now be looking drop dead gorgeous in my free regalia. as it is i cannot afford to replace my woollen jersey and shorts due to the cost of continuing to receive the magazine. and now my legs are getting cold too!!
