At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The 635 from Limar is a tad beefier than the company's Ultralight 777, but there's very little in it, just 10g or so. It's designed to be a cost effective performance lid, and the company has an impressively rigorous set of safety certification attached to all its helmets, including the US CPSC standard and the even tougher Australian safety certification.

The 635 has 15 good sized vents, with the front ones angled to allow for good airflow- the front five are covered in a loose weave mesh, to prevent those irritating insect-caught-in-hair moments. There's a lot of helmet between the vents, but its still a lightweight option. The 635 is a one-size-fits-most proposition, with adjustment in fit being via a chunky plastic dial at the rear of the helmet. The webbing straps are sturdy and feature a soft Velcro fastened chin guard to secure excess strap and increase comfort. The front half of the helmet interior is dotted with an array of soft velvety pads (removable for washing) for extra comfort.

In use, it's easy to adjust, even with gloves on, and the adjustment pulls in the whole cranial system, rather than just one bit, making it incredibly secure and comfortable to wear. It's not going anywhere in a hurry once you've fastened it, making for a stress-free ride in that respect. Air flow is reasonable and it's not an overly hot helmet to wear, although some may prefer a more heavily vented helmet design if they like the feel of the wind ruffling their hair.

It's incredibly hard to find fault with a helmet at this price with such impressive safety certification, a decent weight and good levels of comfort.
