RIP CrippledCyclist

Just saw this dreadful news (below) about CrippledCyclist, aka Heavy Metal Handcyclist. Only knew him from Twitter and his contributions to discussions on road.cc, but he was always good humoured, funny and passionate about active travel and the rights of disabled cyclists. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to his partner, family and friends. I followed him on Twitter. He was incredibly knowledgeable on matters regarding disability cycling and helped a lot of people around those issues.

Thanks for sharing Rendel - all of us at road.cc were really saddened to hear this, I see his last contributions on the Longleat story were as informative and witty as always!

I've been in touch with a friend of his who says a crowdfunder will be set up to raise money for some causes he cared about - I will post details on the forum if and when we get them.

RIP Crippledbiker, you'll be sorely missed.

Doug Paulley has set up a GoFundMe page - he says "fundraising for Wheels for Wellbeing, Transport for All, and Disabled People Against Cuts, in memory of Richard and to keep his work going."

I discovered it via a tweet by Carlton Reid:

I hope this isn't duplicating anything already posted.

Thoughts to his real life family and friends. He made an impact here, so I can only imagine what people closer to him are going through.

Oh, that's really sad. He was an amazing force for good and taught me a huge amount about mobility and the law. Chatted often on Twitter. Lovely bloke unless you were running a train company
