Bibshorts that are tights that are really shorts

There have already been a few threads about ‘what bibtights’ to get for winter, but it is only just the start of autumn. Admittedly it might be a short one as summer has lasted so long. It was only a week yesterday that I was wearing a short sleeved jersey out, though the rain and temperature drop has come and autumn is surely set in. However I am still wearing my bibshorts with long sleeved jerseys and gillets on top. I am quite happy wearing bibs down to about 6/7C or 8/9 in the wet and it is still generally in the low teens now. If it is wet at this time of the year I might pop on some leg warmers just to protect my legs from getting stung or muddy more than for warmth. However I don’t particularly like the way leg warmers have a thick band at the top that digs into my thigh. I don’t want to be moving to bibtights too soon in the winter. They feel heavy and restricting (as do my Specialized warmers.)

So what I would really like is a pair of long shorts. As simple as that, a pair of normal lycra summer weight shorts that are long; or in other words a pair of bibtights that are light as summer shorts and no thermally roubaix type material. All the bibtights I see are always focused on being warm and waterproof and made from magic materials apparently. Has any one seen the sort of long lightweight bottoms I am describing? No 3/4 Knickers please Hipsters. Cheers.

    Wiggle dhb bargain basement
Wiggle dhb bargain basement range “thermal” tights (made of fleecy Roubaix material: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-active-thermal-padded-bib-tight/
Wiggle dhb bargain basement range “non thermal” tights (made of the same lyrca as the shorts): http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-active-padded-bib-tight/
Wiggle dhb bargain basement shorts: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-active-padded-cycling-bib-short/

(oh, and bonus round, wiggle dhb bargain basement thermal shorts: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-active-thermal-padded-bib-short/)

Other manufacturers are available, but that’s the cheap end.

If that’s not what you’re after, then what you’re after doesn’t exist.

Al_S has already given you links to exactly this – was there something wrong with them ?

I’m really confused as to what on earth you’re after; we’ve suggested tights made from the same material as shorts and apparently they’re too “tighty” and not “shorty” enough.

    Warmers over the tops of
Warmers over the tops of shorts? Ron Hill trackster under or over shorts? My own inate sense of the rules tells me these are wrong. Even some of the light weight bibtights suggested are not quite what I am looking for, they are all too bibtighty and not full length shorts. Thank you for the suggestions but I will just have to keep looking. One layer, as light as shorts, as long as tights, padded, if such a thing exists.

I wear a pair of Sondico Core
I wear a pair of Sondico Core tights from Sports Direct for £11.99. They are spot on underneath my bib shorts and are not to hot or cumbersome as some winter bib tights.

    I have some Ron Hill
I have some Ron Hill tracksters left over from my running days which I wear over my shorts, they are thin and light but keep legs comfy on chilly mornings. Once warmed up they can be removed and stuffed into a jersey pocket.

I’ve also bought 3/4 length lycra shorts from a Nike outlet, £15. They do the same job as the tracksters except for leaving shins exposed.

    Give legwarmers another
    Give legwarmers another go.

That way you can wear your bibshorts as per usual, but add in a bit of warmth.

If you don’t mind looking weird, put the legwarmer outside the shorts, so the elastic is less uncomfortable!

These suggestions are all good but all still too ‘thermally.’ Remember Cipo’s full length skinsuits, that’s the weight I am talking about (though black bottoms as I am a little more of a discrete dresser than Mario đŸ˜‰ )

The links I put are all non-thermal material. Really.

    Try these, thin material,
Try these, thin material, long leg, full bib, critisised by some reviewers as being too cool:

I have a pair of the 3/4 length version and they are like long shorts.

    Have you looked into castelli
Have you looked into castelli nanoflex bibshorts?

I recently bought a pair of these and they’re outstanding. They’re a little longer than your usual shorts and go down to the knee, they’re shower proof but as breathable as any other shorts, fleeced lining to keep your legs warm and the fit is excellent so long as you pick a size above your usual.

As an alternative,k sportful do a similar type of short as well.

    Order 3 different sizes of
Order 3 different sizes of DHB legwarmers and return the ones that don’t fit? I’ve got the knee warmers and they’re totally fine – no digging in and cheap as chips.
