Aldi will be offering the Garmin Edge 500 GPS bike computer for just £79.99 later this month.

The Edge 500 has been around for a few years now and has become a classic of the GPS genre.

When we reviewed it here on road.cc back in 2010 we said, “Garmin's Edge 500 GPS computer is a little wonder for giving you all your ride information in an easy-to-use and downloadable package.”

The Edge 500 measures just 48mm x 69mm x 22mm and weighs 65g (including mounts).

You get all the basic speed and distance measurements that you’d expect along with gradient, total ascent/descent, lap times and averages… you get the idea. Plus, it’ll link up with ANT+ devices like heart rate monitors, power meters, and so on.

You can customise the display to show only the information that interests you, then you can upload the data when you get home and store it online.

Garmin recently launched the new Edge 520 to sit alongside the existing Edge 510, but we still think the Edge 500 has a lot to offer.

The Edge 500’s list price is £169.99, so you are making a massive saving here.

The Garmin Edge 500 offer is part of a range of cycling products that will be introduced into Aldi stores nationwide on Thursday 24 September. We’ll tell you more about the rest of the range closer to that time.
