With the Tour de France just around the corner, now might be a good time to get your feet into a pair of limited edition Sidi Wires in yellow, created to celebrate Chris Froome’s 2013 Tour victory. These are the shoes that Froome used as he rode to victory in Paris last year – yellow to match his jersey, of course.

The Wires are Sidi’s top road shoes featuring a Vent carbon sole that’s designed to be lightweight and stiff. As the name suggests, there are integrated air channels in the sole to allow your feet to breathe. You can close the vents if you like.

Closure is via two Techno-3 System dials. You turn the dial to tighten them up and press a button on the side to release the wire. The top dial controls a wide, curved strap that’s intended to distribute the pressure, and you can replace the entire system should it ever wear out. The polyurethane heel pad and toe pad are also replaceable.

The Wires are available in several colours, but not usually in this yellow model

The price? They’re £306, which is a bit more than you’d pay for a standard set of Wires.
