Pinarello have produced some special Dogma bikes for Rapha Travel, the clothing company’s travel business, that will be available for their customers to ride during events such as the Le Grand Banc.

The frames are painted in a black finish with pink details, naturally, with one particular detail raising an eyebrow. They’ve included Rapha’s slogan, 'glory through suffering', at the top of the seatstays, but not in English – oh no! – in Latin: 'Ex Duris Gloria'.

The bikes, the same Dogmas as the ones Team Sky race, are fitted with Campagnolo Record groupsets and wheels and Fizik saddles, and they're fully maintained and serviced by Rapha Travel’s mechanic. As part of the retreat package you’ll even get a Garmin pre-programmed with the day’s route so all you have to worry about is pedalling the bike.

The retreats are group rides with guides and routes all planned, with full backup from experienced mechanics and soigneurs. This year they’re offering the Le Grand Banc which takes in the tranquil parts of rural Provence.

We don’t mind a bit of Latin
We don’t mind a bit of Latin round here.
For someone who has a
For someone who has a sneering derision for a) people who ride Pinarellos and b) people who wear Rapha i have to say that that is a beautiful bicycle.

Great bikes, great clothes… what’s not to like?
…Apart from the price.

That’s a shame. As a Pinarello rider, I just have a sneering derision for people who are mean and act rude, not because of what they ride or wear.

As a Rapha customer I feel genuinely sorry for you. It must be miserable spending your days worrying about other people.
Just ride your bike fella, you’ll feel better. Well, until someone in Rapha on a Pinarello drops you on your favourite climb.
I think the Condor in that colour scheme is a nicer bike though. I just don’t like Pinarellos.

Okay don’t cry, I think the first guy was being tongue in cheek.

Yeah, you blew the generous ‘just ride’ message with your own sneering-derision superiority there… and kinda missed that guy you were quoting was ‘getting over himself’ to offer a complement.
I rode 400k yesterday with 50ish guys and gals who ride everything from latest ti and carbon lovelies to old pieces of crap and everything in between. I suspect some of them even wore Rapha. Yes, the Audax crew. And why do I like them? No one would even think of passing judgement on anyones bike or kit because… it’s a lot less important than the fact you’re out riding your bike.
We are a small tribe who the rest of the world doesn’t give a shit about. Do you really think the vast majority of people in cars think ‘oh, he’s cool because he’s got an gaba top on or he’s riding a cervelo’?? Nope they just think ‘effing cyclist’.
So, lets try that again – Just ride your bike fella (and wave at everyone who is doing the same regardless of that they wear), you’ll feel better.

Amazing. We have gone full circle and got nowhere. I’m sure ‘Some Fella’ was just issuing banter. My retort was in the same vein.
This forum seriously needs the stick pulled out of it’s arse.

Some people confirming my suspicions that Pinarello riders / Rapha wearers perhaps take themselves a bit too seriously and cant see when someone is being a bit ironic.

Out of all the really
Out of all the really expensive things there are to do, having someone set up a really expensive bicycle for one’s really expensive cycling holiday seems like a lovely choice.
Now people who only do really expensive things can also enjoy the simple pleasures of riding a bicycle too! Hooray for bicycles!
