I think all keen road cyclist would agree that the success of a pair of socks lies in two fundamental aspects: colour and length. The Attaquer Vertical Logo socks have a great length that seems to be the trending at the moment: enough to see the calf, but keeping the ankle to one’s imagination. Normally, colour for me is simple: white in summer, black in winter. However, to my surprise, the navy looked great – though accompanying navy bib shorts are probably a must, too. The white lettering stands out and adds a bit of interest.

Fit-wise, I had nothing to complain about. They never fell down or felt too tight, delivering just the right level of support.
They are made of a thicker material, and are best described as a midweight sock. They were great on those days when I couldn’t decide whether to wear shorts or tights. They kept my legs warmer than a standard pair of socks, allowing for shorts on cooler days. I was never too hot in them, but I’d imagine that would change above 25°C – unfortunately, the UK hasn’t provided these testing conditions…
The added silver yarn in the footbed is inspired – it’s antimicrobial and assists in wicking away sweat and certainly worked: these socks never smelt bad, even after long rides, making my kit wash a much more pleasant experience.
Value
These were originally on the system as £19.95, a price that I would be willing to pay for a premium pair of socks, so £14.95 makes these even more attractive. Okay, it’s not cheap, but they’re in the same ballpark as established sock manufacturers, a little cheaper than DeFeet’s Cyclismo Tab socks and dhb’s Aeron Labs at £17.99 and £15 respectively.
Overall, they’re a stylish pair of socks, perfect for autumn, winter and spring. The length, colour and fit are great. The marketing says they’re “the most advanced, lightweight and comfortable cycling socks on the market” and I can’t really argue with that.
