Saddles are perhaps the hardest cycling product to review as fit is such a personal experience, but Ergon offers a considerable range of ergonomically designed contact points in various widths, sizes and styles. The Ergon SRS Comp Men is a comfort-focused road saddle that delivers targeted pressure relief and solid support at a more accessible price than its high-end siblings. It’s not built for weight weenies, but if you’re after long-distance comfort without blowing the budget, it’s a well-thought-out option that does exactly what it promises.
Plenty of road saddles promise lightweight performance or aggressive rider positions, but when it comes to long-ride comfort and practical fit, many fall short. That’s where saddles like the SRS Comp come in.
The SRS Comp uses Ergon’s familiar male-specific shape (a female-specific version is also available), with a flattened nose, a broad rear platform, and a pronounced central relief channel aimed at reducing pressure in the perineal area. It’s a design based on anatomical studies and pressure mapping, and in practice, it works. On longer rides, it noticeably reduces numbness and discomfort, even when riding in a more aggressive position.

Padding is Ergon’s ‘orthopaedic comfort foam, which is reassuringly firm but far more forgiving than some race saddles. It feels supportive under load and doesn’t deform over time. The shell is a composite nylon blend with a bit of give, and the TiNox XP rails keep weight and cost down without feeling cheap or flexy. At 260g for the M/L version I had on test, it’s not the lightest, but for me, comfort trumps weight savings every time. For context, the similarly specced Fizik Tempo Alliante R5 is 229g.

On the bike, the shape encourages a stable, slightly forward-rotated posture without locking you in, so it works well for a classic road or all-road endurance riding position. There’s enough platform at the rear to support wider sit bones, and the flat nose helps when shifting forward during efforts or climbing. The relief channel is deep and well-shaped – there’s no awkward step or pressure ridge, and it feels neutral once you’re pedalling.

Fit-wise, the SRS Comp Men comes in two widths, S/M (9-12cm sit bones) and M/L (12-16cm). It won’t suit riders on the extremes of the sizing range, but most will find a workable match, and Ergon’s sizing guide is easy to follow. Setup is straightforward too, with clearly marked rail lines and a shape that doesn’t need endless tinkering to feel ‘right’. I set it level at the start of testing, and only made minor adjustments fore and aft before settling on a position.

It’s finished in a smooth microfibre cover with subtle branding and looks smart if a bit underwhelming. There are no flashy graphics or bright accents, which I think hides the true high-end quality and nature of the saddle – though some may prefer the less flashy looks. The cover has held up well over test rides in mixed conditions, with no signs of premature wear or scuffing.
Value
At £109.99, the Ergon SRS Comp hits a very reasonable middle ground. It undercuts many premium saddles while delivering similar performance in terms of comfort and support. Its closest rival is the Fizik Tempo Aliante R5 at £109.99, which also offers two widths and is designed for long rides, featuring a similar longer shape.

For those after a shorter nose saddle, the Specialized Power Expert is available at a comparable price of £115. The £100-£130 price point is a packed segment, and Ergon’s offering offers enough tech and a high-end finish to justify its place.
Conclusion
This isn’t the lightest or flashiest saddle around, but it’s well-designed, well-made, and does an excellent job of keeping you comfortable across long miles. If you’ve struggled with pressure or numbness and want a proven shape at a reasonable price, the SRS Comp is a smart, no-nonsense choice that looks built to last.
Verdict
Not the lightest or flashiest, but a well-shaped, comfortable endurance saddle

Can we have more ‘birds eye
Can we have more ‘birds eye view’ shots of saddles please? I’m always on the lookout for a more padded version of the Fizik Antares, but it has a distinct ‘T’ shape similar to a Selle Italia Flite. It’s difficult to see if this Ergon shares that shape or not.
