Dangerholm has forged a name for not only donning the tightest jean shorts in the industry but also creating some of the lightest and most radical bike builds around. Most recently, Scott handed him a Scale RC and boy, has he worked some magic.

Dangerholm is often set completely free and able to pick any specification level or part regardless of price – something we can only dream of doing.

This time round, he was given Scott’s Scale RC cross country bike, one the brand dubbed as ‘lightweight perfection’ upon its release and has created a ‘Super Gravel’ bike. With this build, Dangerholm leans into the running joke told by almost every gravel rider or sceptic that modern gravel bikes are just old-school mountain bikes

Dangerholm goes on to say that if you’ve been riding cross-country, you’re likely to have negotiated a fair bit of gravel, too – sometimes these routes could very well be exclusively gravel. He also suggests that larger tyres and the geometry offered by cross-country bikes result in more comfort and that it wouldn’t be much slower than a modern gravel rig.

Onto the bike and it’s quite the looker, to say the least. As expected of one of Dangerholm’s builds, it features a tonne of high-end parts including Trickstuff Piccola Carbon brakes, a staple of his builds, and even a 3D-printed titanium mech hanger from Sturdy Cycles.

On top of that, there’s a SRAM Red AXS XPLR derailleur with gold carbon-ti limit screws and a CeramicSpeed OSPW that’s been 3D-printed with hollow titanium. There are also Meti titanium thru axles and the Shimano XTR pedals get Meti’s Rapido titanium spindles.

As you’ve probably guessed, 3D-printed titanium is a running theme of this bike and includes the lock rings. Elsewhere there’s a set of Syncros Silverton SL wheels with Kenda Rush Pro 2.4in tyres with, believe it or not, innertubes. But these aren’t just innertubes as they’re Revoloop’s Ultra MTB tubes that are claimed to weigh just 45g each.

All bearings are provided by CeramicSpeed and there’s a Syncros Fraser iC SL integrated bar and stem that’s 80mm in length and 720mm in width. And it’s a flat bar, not a drop bar. Oh, and there’s a rigid fork from Scott in the form of the Scale Rigid fork.

Together, Dangerholm and Scott say that this build weighs in at a mere 7.67kg including pedals.
